Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our team at Open Source (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our infrastructure group, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our Linux-based systems for maximum performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and optimizing Linux infrastructure for maximum performance.
  • Automating repetitive tasks through scripting.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting system issues to prevent downtime.

  • Managing backup and disaster recovery processes.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • At least eight years of experience working with Linux technologies (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL, Debian).
  • Five years of experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MSSQL.
  • Expertise in virtualization and containers (VMware, KVM, Proxmox, Docker).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Perl).
  • Solid knowledge of security tools and best practices (firewalls, SSH, SELinux, vulnerability scanning).
  • Experience with monitoring and performance tuning (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Ops Manager).
  • Good understanding of networking protocols and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Strong background in backup and disaster recovery solutions.

What You Will Do:

As a Senior Linux Systems Engineer at Open Source (Pty) Ltd, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our Linux-based systems for maximum performance.
