Pharmacist Job DescriptionDis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join their team in Norwood. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients, ensuring their medicine-related needs are met, and adhering to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate patients' medicine-related needs and determine the indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy.
- Dispense medicines and scheduled substances on prescription, and sign off and check prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns.
- Furnish information and advice to patients regarding the use of medicines.
- Determine patient compliance with therapy and follow up to ensure medicine-related needs are met.
- Provide pharmacist-initiated therapy, compound, manipulate, prepare, or package medicines, and supervise these activities.
- Purchase, acquire, import, keep, possess, use, release, store, package, re-package, supply, or sell medicines, and supervise these activities.
- Apply for the registration of medicines in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
- Perform acts specially pertaining to the profession of a pharmacist, as prescribed.
- Formulate medicines for registration, distribute medicines, re-package medicines, initiate and conduct pharmaceutical research and development, and promote public health.
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification or equivalent.
- BPharm or equivalent qualification.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in pharmaceuticals, with 2-3 years' retail pharmacy experience (student/intern) preferred.
- Computer literate, with MS Office skills advantageous.
- Relevant retail/FMCG experience, third additional language, SAP experience, E-scripting experience, registered tutor, and Unisolv experience advantageous.
- Strong command of the English language and a second language.
- Good communication skills, listening, and basic dosing and important drug interaction knowledge.
- Customer service/focus, supervisor experience, and ability to lead by example.
- Conflict management, strong attention to detail, sound numerical skills, problem-solving, team player, trustworthy, and honest.
- Ability to deal with pressure, time management, and physically fit to stand for long periods.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council.
- Willing and able to work retail hours.
- Controlled room temperature, security, limited space, health and safety, risk stock.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
- Valid drivers' license and own reliable transport.
- South African citizen, MIE, clear credit and criminal records.
