About the Role

The Compliance Manager at Initiate International plays a pivotal role in ensuring the company's adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, particularly in the online betting sector. This position involves assessing risk areas, implementing measures to mitigate identified risks, and ensuring full compliance with relevant laws, company policies, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Provide advice and support to the business to maintain compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Issue Reporting: Report significant compliance or non-compliance issues, including irregular activities or potential policy/system issues, to the Managing Director or other stakeholders. Lead investigations and remediation actions promptly.
  • Compliance Framework Development: Develop and maintain a robust compliance and governance framework within the business.
  • Risk Management: Ensure that all necessary controls are in place to manage risk effectively within the organization.
  • Guidance and Oversight: Provide guidance on necessary controls and systems to ensure compliance. Oversee commercial and legal agreements.
  • Regulatory Implementation: Implement relevant Acts and regulations.
  • Compliance Risk Management: Develop and implement Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs).
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Assess the potential impact of regulatory developments on business operations. Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication with internal parties, ensuring coordinated coverage of compliance risks across departments.
  • Licensing and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with licensing conditions and codes of practice for the company's licenses. Communicate with regulatory authorities as needed to represent the company's interests.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular monitoring of compliance risks.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain close working relationships with third-party companies involved in the business's licensed activities.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform other ad hoc duties as required.
  • Regulatory Review: Review marketing materials, presentations, and websites to ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Education: BCom Law or LLB, with a postgraduate qualification in Law being advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a Legal & Compliance role.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Proficiency in interacting with third-party regulators and licensing bodies.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the online gambling industry.
  • Compliance Expertise: Experience in gambling regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and practices. Ability to gather, collate, and summarize information from diverse sources. Technical expertise in compliance matters. Strong analytical skills. Solid understanding of legal requirements and procedures. Awareness of brand perception and customer experience.
