Main Purpose of Job

To deliver high-quality patient care in a renal disease treatment setting, adhering to the Scope of Practice and Renal Care policies and standard procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a multi-professional team to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Identify and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
  • Create a positive patient experience by maintaining a conducive environment.
  • Accurately record patient interventions and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Develop a learning environment that fosters staff competence.
  • Ensure accurate charging of utilised stock and equipment.
Required Education

Essential Education: Degree/Diploma in Clinical Technology (Nephrology)

Desired Education: None

Required Experience

Essential Minimum Experience: Clinical technologist (Nephrology) registered with the HPCSA with a minimum of 2 years Dialysis experience

Desired Experience: Clinical technologist (Nephrology) registered with the HPCSA

  • Acute dialysis treatment
  • Basic Life Support trained (ACLS, ATLS, PALS training for specialised wards)
  • Billing procedures
  • Chronic dialysis treatment
  • Clinical record keeping, procedures and protocols
  • Computer literacy: MS Office and Dialysis Programme
  • Dialysis machine and water purification system operation
  • Infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols
