Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting oral glucose tolerance tests, drawing blood samples, HIV testing and counseling, participant management, and referral, as well as assisting with data collection and management.

Key Performance Areas
  • Educate participants about project aims and information
  • Provide study information and administer informed consent to study participants
  • Ensure that screening, consenting, and enrolment of participants take place in line with project protocol as and when required
  • Complete an oral glucose tolerance test
  • Administer questionnaires
  • Escort participant referred to hospital for admission if required
  • Assist with data entry and checking using REDCap
  • Keep and maintain screening and enrolment logs
  • Develop and provide reports as required by the study coordinator
  • Ensure laboratory results are attended to, abnormal results are reported to the coordinator, filed and recorded on flow charts, and making sure that participants are referred accordingly
  • Ensure timeous resolution of data queries raised by the research team
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12
  • Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
  • Undergraduate Degree in Health Sciences
  • Valid Driver's License
Desirable Skills and Abilities
  • Good Clinical Practice/Human Subject Protection certification advantageous
  • Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in study requirements
  • Empathetic toward people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Must be able to drive
  • Ability to speak local languages
  • Computer literacy
  • Willingness to learn
