Electrical Systems Specialist for Water Treatment Plants

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at Sp-int. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication.

About the Role

This is a senior electrical position that involves installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in water treatment plants. You will work closely with other engineers, technicians, and management to ensure smooth operations and provide technical support to junior staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install electrical systems, components, and equipment, including wiring, circuits, and fixtures.
    • Regularly inspect and maintain electrical systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely.
    • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce the likelihood of equipment failure.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in industrial machinery and systems.
    • Repair or replace faulty wiring, components, or equipment.
    • Respond to emergency breakdowns and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with local, state, and national electrical codes and standards.
    • Follow strict safety protocols to protect oneself and others from electrical hazards.
    • Conduct safety inspections and implement measures to prevent electrical accidents.
  • Reading Blueprints and Schematics:
    • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
    • Plan and layout the installation of electrical systems based on these documents.
  • Working with Automation and Control Systems:
    • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other control systems.
    • Program and configure VSD's & Soft Starters to optimize industrial processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and management to ensure smooth operations.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff or apprentices.
    • Document all work performed, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and repair records.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years post-trade test experience in an electrical environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Solution-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Administrative experience with job cards, risk assessments, health and safety checks, and reporting capabilities.
  • Trade test qualification and beyond.
  • Health and safety courses would be beneficial.
  • Wireman's License will be an advantage.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
