The role of a Chief Architect in the Department of Infrastructure involves conceptualising and developing architectural plans, designs, and strategies. This includes performing final reviews and approvals on architectural designs, coordinating design efforts across disciplines, and maintaining operational effectiveness.
To succeed in this position, you will require a B-Degree in Architecture or relevant qualification, a minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience, a valid driving license, and compulsory registration with SACAP as a Professional Architect.
The key performance areas of this role include architectural design and analysis effectiveness, maintaining operational effectiveness, setting standards and specifications, and monitoring efficiencies to direct architectural services. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and management of funds to meet budgeted objectives, managing the operational capital project portfolio, and facilitating the compilation of innovation proposals.
You will also be required to allocate and monitor resources, compile risk logs, provide technical consulting services, and manage knowledge sharing initiatives. Furthermore, you will need to manage the development, motivation, and utilization of human resources for the discipline, as well as manage subordinates' key performance areas.
