The Financial Manager will assist the Head of Finance with various accounting operations, including financial reporting, record-keeping, and risk management. The role involves overseeing the accounting department, providing leadership, and mentoring staff to achieve success in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily transactions and design a supporting structure to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  2. Provide leadership and mentorship to finance department staff, ensuring they are adequately skilled and trained.
  3. Manage production processes and procedures to meet production goals.
  4. Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  5. Assist in managing financial accounting functions, including inventory, debtors, creditors, VAT, fixed assets, general ledger, company taxation, cash flow, forex, and insurance.
  6. Review and submit weekly and monthly results to Libstar.
  7. Review and submit monthly management accounts to Libstar.
  8. Prepare quarterly board packs.
  9. Budgeting and forecasting.
  10. Monitor and interpret cash flows, predicting future trends.
  11. Facilitate half-year and year-end audit processes.
  12. Liaise with external and internal auditors.
  13. Governance and compliance, improving internal controls.
  14. Perform finance-related systems and internal control management.
  15. Assist with net working capital and forex exposure management.
  16. Provisional and income tax computation.
  17. Evaluate tax and legal compliance.
  18. Support ad-hoc projects.

Role Capabilities:

  1. Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
  2. Effective management skills, adhering to standards, efficiency, effectiveness, and result-oriented approaches.

Education and Required Knowledge:

  1. Chartered Accountants (CA) or Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Accounting degree.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge in accounting and enterprise systems, taxation legislation, etc.
  3. A minimum of 5-10 years relevant experience in a similar role.
  4. Experience in the FMCG environment would be advantageous.
  5. High computer literacy, especially in Excel and ERP systems (Syspro knowledge beneficial).
  6. Good people management skills, including motivation, team building, and discipline.
