Internal Control Manager Role

West Coast Personnel seeks an experienced Internal Control Manager to lead internal control activities, establish and monitor internal control frameworks, and liaise with internal and external auditors. The role involves assisting the CFO with financial reporting and other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document internal control frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and document process walkthroughs to identify control gaps and implement solutions.
  • Map key controls to the COSO framework and establish consensus with control owners.
  • Plan and execute ongoing internal control compliance monitoring and communicate with the CFO and Head of Internal Audit on internal control effectiveness.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, schedule audits, and distribute request lists.
  • Review audit reports and assist in addressing findings, responding to audit queries, and supporting the CFO in Audit Committee meetings.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts and annual financial statements, supporting quarterly board report preparation, and researching new accounting pronouncements and regulations.
  • Manage Finance department vendors, perform backup general ledger accounting, and Finance Manager duties.
  • Participate in enterprise risk management and handle ad hoc requests from the CFO.

Requirements:

  • CA (SA) certification is required, and IIA certification is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of post-SAICA articles experience, with similar industry experience in insurance preferred.
  • Advanced computer literacy, especially in Excel, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to self-start, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently, with a willingness to travel within South Africa at least twice a year.
