About the Role:
The Building Craftsman is responsible for constructing and repairing structures such as walls, buildings, and pathways. This role requires strong physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a construction environment while adhering to safety guidelines.
Main Duties:Building Materials: Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials.
Mortar Preparation: Mix mortar and ensure proper consistency for bonding materials.
Structure Alignment: Align structures using levels, plumb bobs, and measuring tools.
Tool Handling: Cut and shape bricks using hand and power tools.
Repair Services: Repair and restore existing masonry structures as needed.
Blueprint Implementation: Follow blueprints, drawings, and building plans for accurate construction.
Material Management:
- Load, unload, and transport bricks, cement, and other materials.
Safety Standards: Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following site safety regulations.
Support Tasks: Assist in general construction tasks when bricklaying is not required.
Equipment Use: Operate basic construction equipment and tools under supervision.
Background Experience: Previous experience as a bricklayer or construction worker preferred.
Skills: Knowledge of bricklaying techniques and materials.
Instruction Following: Ability to read and follow blueprints or instructions.
Physical Capacity: Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials.
Safety Training: Familiarity with construction site safety protocols.
Adaptability: Ability to work in different weather conditions.
Collaboration: Good teamwork and communication skills.
Credential Level: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
Certificate: Certification in bricklaying or masonry work is an advantage.
