Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate resource estimation outputs for Platinum underground mines and joint ventures, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Conduct pilot studies to test and implement improvements in resource estimation, maintaining high standards for data quality and model accuracy.
  • Ensure consistent application of resource estimation best practices across the group, aligning all activities with leading industry standards.
  • Mentor resource estimation specialists, contribute to improved Ore Control estimation approaches, assist with R&R report preparation, and act as a Competent Person when required.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team that fosters inclusivity, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and oversee compliance governance, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geosciences
  • 7–10 years of experience in resource estimation for underground operations
  • Expertise in geostatistics, including Ordinary Kriging, Uniform Conditioning, and conditional simulation
  • Strong knowledge of Bushveld Complex platinum deposits and general understanding of bulk materials, base/precious metals, and diamonds
  • Deep understanding of geological controls on mineralization
  • Expertise in sampling, assaying, QA/QC processes, and geometallurgical characteristics for spatial estimation
  • Familiarity with mining and processing methods such as flotation and pyrometallurgy to optimize resource estimates
  • Strong knowledge of Resource and Reserve reporting standards (SAMREC) and familiarity with JORC and NI 43101
  • Proficient in GMP software (preferably Datamine) with working knowledge of Python and Leapfrog
  • Skilled in systematic problem-solving, risk identification, and statistical analysis to develop effective solutions
  • Ability to generate and implement innovative resource estimation solutions that optimize value and mitigate risks
