Job Title: Senior Microbiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Microbiologist to join our team at The Heineken Company in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced microbiologist to lead our quality assurance initiatives in the laboratory. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international standards and specifications, analyzing data to identify quality risks, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Align goals and objectives with site quality and ensure compliance to standards and specifications
  • Analyze data to identify quality risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks
  • Lead hygiene problem-solving and improvement initiatives as applicable
  • Manage high-performance culture of self and ensure sound approaches to health and safety
  • Manage factors concerning environment, risk, and sustainable development
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A recognized degree or diploma in Microbiology, Food Technology, or Biotechnology
  • Relevant working experience in an analytical laboratory and micro laboratory (working experience in a wine-related intrinsic laboratory will be considered advantageous)
  • Extensive microbiological knowledge
  • Working knowledge of health and safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent report writing and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to think innovatively and have advanced problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and extended hours when necessary
  • Reliable transport to and from work
  • Ability to cope with the inherent physical demands of the position
What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around R600,000 per annum, based on your experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes medical aid, retirement annuity, and paid annual leave.
