Work Africa seeks a highly skilled Supply Chain Director to oversee all purchasing activities for our quick-service restaurant chain in East London.

This key role involves ensuring optimal inventory levels, cost-effective sourcing, and maintaining quality standards for food and non-food items.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Numerical and statistical skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management or a relevant field, with at least 3 years' experience in procurement or sales. Experience in QSR/FMCG is beneficial.

Key responsibilities include:

Food & Beverage Procurement

Manage relationships with food and beverage suppliers, negotiating contracts and prices; Monitor market trends and commodity prices to optimize purchasing decisions; Ensure all food and beverage items meet company quality standards and food safety regulations; Coordinate with the menu development team to source ingredients for new menu items.

Non-Food Items Procurement

Oversee procurement of operational supplies including restaurant uniforms and employee attire, cleaning supplies and chemicals, paper products and packaging materials, office supplies and stationery, and kitchen equipment and maintenance supplies.

Inventory Management

Coordinate with Supply Chain teams to forecast demand and adjust ordering accordingly.

Vendor Management

Evaluate and select vendors based on price, quality, delivery reliability, and service; Maintain a diverse supplier base to ensure supply chain resilience; Conduct regular vendor performance reviews; Resolve any supplier-related issues promptly.

Cost Control & Reporting

Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost savings; Prepare regular reports on procurement metrics and KPIs; Monitor and control budget for all purchasing activities; Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

Risk Management

Identify and assess potential risks associated with procurement, such as supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and price fluctuations; Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.
