Assistant to the Financial Manager Director

We are looking for a highly skilled Financial Manager Assistant to join our team at Rooftop Recruitment in Johannesburg.

The estimated annual salary for this role is R 850,000 - R 1,200,000.

Job Overview:

This is a permanent position that requires the successful candidate to oversee the day-to-day accounting, tax, administration, and financial management tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage an accounts team and ensure the completion of accurate and timely financial accounting and management reporting.
  2. Assist with finance staff training and development to ensure up-to-date awareness and knowledge of best practice and financial matters.
  3. Ensure the financial team follows company policies and regulations.
  4. Examine internal systems (auditing) or provide information for external auditors.
  5. Prepare individual entity management accounts within reporting deadlines.
  6. Responsible for preparing necessary month-end journals (debits and credits).
  7. Perform financial analysis, reporting, and management activities.
  8. Ensure timely preparation and delivery of financial reports.
  9. Review financial data for accuracy, correctness, and completeness.
  10. Prepare relevant and accurate monthly management accounts for submission to stakeholders.
  11. Review the effectiveness of accounting and reporting systems on an ongoing basis.
  12. Monitor and manage expenses within allotted budgets.
  13. Assist in account payable and receivable activities.
  14. Perform balance sheet account reconciliation activities.
  15. Provide commentary and analysis of month-on-month movements.
  16. Comply with relevant tax laws and regulations, as well as finance-related guidelines and codes of best practice.
  17. VAT reconciliation preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  18. Deal with SA Revenue Services (SARS), including writing objections and filing submissions.
  19. Correspondence with SARS regarding taxation matters.
  20. Maintenance of fixed asset registers.
  21. Facilitate annual audit and preparation of schedules and reconciliations.
  22. Manage compliance with SARS and CIPC registrations and requirements.
  23. Provide organizational staff with efficient support/assistance from the finance department.
