Mintek is a leading research and development organization that requires a skilled Artisan Fitter and Turner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical assembly, precision engineering, and trade certification.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for executing workshop and plant activities, including manufacturing, modifying, and erecting pilot plants, laboratory apparatus, and client products. This will involve working with detailed engineering drawings, assembling mechanical equipment and components, and testing individual components or plants to ensure they meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture, modify, and assemble mechanical equipment and components according to engineering drawings.
- Test individual components or plants to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Provide fitting and machining skills support during commissioning of test facilities or client products.
- Inspect subcontractor's workmanship and assist with QA/QC inspections.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A trade certificate as a Fitter and Turner.
- At least 5 years' experience in a workshop or field/project environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, precision engineering, and trade practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
