Hospitality Cash Handling Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The role involves managing various payment methods while adhering to established accounting protocols and policies. It is essential to comply with property control audit standards and cash management procedures, including secure cash drops. The individual will be responsible for maintaining an accurate cash bank, ensuring the safety of funds, and preparing necessary change for anticipated business levels. At the end of each shift, the bank must be counted, and any discrepancies addressed, along with the completion of required cashier reports and secure handling of receipts.

The workstation must be organized and equipped with all necessary supplies, forms, and resources, while also maintaining cleanliness at all times. Initial duties include setting up the workstation with required tools and ensuring all equipment is functional.

Safety and Security

Report any work-related accidents or injuries to the supervisor immediately. Adhere to company and departmental safety and security policies to maintain a clean and secure environment.

Policies and Procedures

Follow all company and departmental policies diligently. Safeguard the privacy and security of guests and colleagues. Maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary materials and information. Ensure personal appearance and uniform are clean, professional, and in line with company standards. Protect company assets and equipment in accordance with established policies. Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Guest Relations

Express genuine appreciation to guests and provide a warm farewell. Address guest service needs promptly and professionally. Greet each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal acknowledgment, using their name when possible. Actively listen and respond positively to guest inquiries and concerns, utilizing brand-specific processes to resolve issues and build trust. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure comprehensive guest service coverage. Anticipate guest needs by asking insightful questions and observing preferences. Engage guests in discussions about their stay and available services.

Communication

Use clear and professional language when interacting with guests and coworkers. Answer phones with appropriate etiquette, ensuring timely and courteous communication.

Team Collaboration

Support colleagues and treat all team members with respect. Foster positive working relationships across departments. Collaborate with others to promote teamwork and achieve shared objectives.

Quality Assurance

Adhere to quality assurance standards and expectations.

Physical Requirements

Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods as required. Utilize computers and point of sale systems for work-related tasks. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.

General Food and Beverage Services

Maintain cleanliness in work areas throughout the day, practicing a clean-as-you-go approach. Assist other departments as needed to ensure optimal guest service.

Management Support

Communicate effectively with guests and team members to meet guest needs.

Opening Duties

Complete opening tasks, ensuring the work area is clean and all supplies are prepared.

Cash Handling

Process payments in accordance with accounting standards. Follow cash handling procedures to ensure security and accuracy. Conduct end-of-shift cash counts and complete necessary reports. Ensure the safety and accuracy of the cash bank at all times. Transport cash securely to and from the workstation. Organize the cashier workstation with required supplies and maintain cleanliness.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
