About the Role:

This is a senior technical position that requires 7 to 10 years of post-qualification experience in high voltage power transmission and distribution infrastructure in the power utility or renewable energy sector.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in planning and design of HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure from 33kV up to 765kV.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design and Planning: Plan and design HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure, including layouts, drawings, selection of substation equipment, construction specifications, and all associated electrical calculations and studies.
  • Project Management: Responsible for handling multiple projects and providing guidance in the development of engineering deliverables, including project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Technical Expertise: Perform necessary calculations and studies, including power systems studies on utility and industrial/commercial power transmission and distribution systems.
  • Documentation and Communication: Develop project design documentation, technical specifications, and provide regular status feedback to business unit principals and project managers.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction and guidance to junior engineers, drafters, and designers, and ensure design schedules are met.
  • Quality and Safety: Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System, participate in continuous improvement of processes, and demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment by following the Company's Health, Safety & Environment Policy.
Requirements:
  • BSc Eng or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering with 7 years relevant post-qualification technical experience, or B Tech in Electrical Engineering with 10 years relevant post-qualification technical experience at engineering level.
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.

This role involves developing solar PV or wind power projects, including feasibility studies, conceptual designs, detailed designs, and cost analysis, as well as understanding technology-specific contractual agreements.

Education:

BSc / Eng / BTech in Electrical Engineering, professionally registered (ECSA) or candidate currently receiving registration.
