Our client, a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, is in search of a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to enhance their operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee health and safety protocols to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, international standards, and client expectations.
- Compile and present pertinent statistics and reports on a weekly and monthly basis, as well as for formal evaluations.
- Ensure that all departments maintain compliance with safety regulations.
- Facilitate and engage in comprehensive Hazard Analyses across the organization.
- Promote risk awareness through effective communication and training for all employees.
- Manage health and safety requirements for contractors.
- Revise legal appointments as necessary in response to structural or leadership changes.
- Organize and disseminate monthly Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) awareness sessions.
- Monitor and document evacuation drills.
- Record all incidents of injury on duty (IOD) that necessitate medical attention with the relevant authorities.
- Maintain and update IOD tracking graphs and ensure timely follow-up on investigation outcomes.
- Initiate annual refresher training for Forklift Operators, Stackers, and First Aid personnel, ensuring all certifications and licenses are current.
- Conduct health and safety audits across all departments.
- Monitor turnaround times for new machine risk assessments.
- Coordinate annual medical examinations and return-to-work assessments for employees in high-risk roles as identified by the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) process.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum N3 qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Certification in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) management.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety officer role.
- Strong technical expertise.
- Proficient in Excel and reporting.
- In-depth knowledge and enthusiasm for the Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) Act and related SHE legislation.
