Job Description

This internal product leadership role focuses on enabling Hobbsnews to quickly and reliably ingest, transform, share, and process data, adhering to the highest standards of privacy and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve seamless information flow between internal users and engineering teams: Conduct user research to understand data consumers' needs and improve satisfaction and adoption metrics.
  2. Establish a compelling product vision: Ensure you articulate how the world will be different for your users due to your products.
  3. Develop and deliver an ambitious transformative roadmap: Establish a comprehensive roadmap for your products and gain buy-in from commercial leaders across the business.
  4. Give your team context and clarity to deliver the roadmap: Write detailed PRDs that clarify development tasks effectively.
  5. Define and measure team success openly: Define or refine success metrics and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for your part of the platform.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

A matric, National Diploma in an Information Technology related discipline or a bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or a quantitative field is recommended.

Experience: 7+ years' experience in leading data platform teams with at least 2 in a modern context with cloud technologies and high-performing team organizational patterns. Experience owning and managing resources, including planning for storage and compute costs and team development and retention.

Skills & Thinking Preference: Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across the organization. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
