Business Area and Team

The Xceptor Engineering team is dedicated to delivering value to our customers and end users. Our teams operate in a hybrid model, with members located in various regions. The Engineering Enablement team (Platform Engineering) functions as a cross-functional internal service for product engineering teams. Our mission is to empower our product teams to deliver new value to end users frequently, rapidly, and securely. This includes providing security services and capabilities that integrate security into the software development lifecycle.

The Role

The Senior Security Engineer position is based within the Engineering Enablement team. We seek a Security Engineer to establish the engineering security strategy and collaborate with product engineering teams to deliver top-tier security services and capabilities, ensuring the highest security standards are embedded throughout our Engineering function.

As the Senior Security Engineer, you will be passionate about information and software security. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Defining the security strategy for Xceptor Engineering.
  • Leading the Security Review Group, serving as the primary contact for Application Security issues and overseeing security considerations in software development and operations.
  • Identifying, documenting, and implementing best practices in information security.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective security controls throughout our development and operations value delivery flow.
  • Conducting training and awareness initiatives to foster a security-first culture.
  • Developing and reporting metrics to measure security performance across Engineering teams and the broader business.
  • Monitoring vulnerabilities in the technology ecosystem and driving necessary remediation efforts.
  • Coordinating and managing external penetration testing, audits, and all aspects of security compliance within Xceptor Engineering.
  • Ensuring compliance with security standards and certifications, including but not limited to ISO, SOC, NIST, CIS, and GDPR.

Key Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of cloud, application, and information system security principles, including access control, threat management, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify security gaps and devise comprehensive solutions.
  • Communication: Strong skills in documenting security procedures and conveying complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams to build and maintain secure systems through effective collaboration. A proven team player who shares knowledge and supports colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Ability to respond to evolving security threats and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Learning: Commitment to staying current with the rapidly changing field of cybersecurity.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in a security engineering role, ideally within a software vendor that offers a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product. Proven experience in cloud security and application vulnerability management is essential.
  • Familiarity with static application security testing (SAST) and dynamic application security testing (DAST) tools is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud security tools and Kubernetes security practices is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of GitOps principles for managing application and infrastructure states is desired.
