Job Purpose

The role of the Lecturer is pivotal in delivering training and education to students, providing student consultations, establishing a knowledge base of the discipline through academic research & development, and offering overall support to the Academic department.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Presenting content in a class environment to engage students and facilitate their learning.
  • Briefing students on assignments and projects to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Assessing students' work and providing constructive feedback to aid their growth.
  • Staying updated on the latest trends in teaching and learning strategies within the Rosebank College environment.
  • Developing and implementing intervention programmes to support at-risk students.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

A minimum Bachelor's/ Honours/ Masters Degree in the relevant lecturing discipline is essential.

NQF level 6 qualification in Education (PGDHE or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Training and Development experience is advantageous.

Experience
  • A minimum of 1-5 years of lecturing experience is required.
  • Previous experience in guidance and counselling, as well as remediation, is beneficial.
Key Competencies
  • Familiarity with the South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
  • Knowledge of Teaching and Learning theory and interventions.
  • The ability to provide effective student support services.
  • The capacity to work with and learn more about digitalized academic platforms.
  • Adaptability in a frequently changing environment and ability to cope with evolving situations.
  • Ability to adhere to rules and follow work regulations strictly.
  • Deadline-oriented and able to work well under pressure.
  • Effective time management skills.
