Role Summary

RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Marine Surveyor to join its office in the Marine South East Europe & MEA Region Division.

Responsibilities

The Senior Marine Surveyor serves as a seasoned and highly knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting routine surveys on classed ships, platforms, or marine structures to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
  • Preparing technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys.
  • Maintaining survey files in an organized and up-to-date manner.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating various phases of surveying work.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to lower-level and less experienced surveyors.
  • Engaging with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise.
  • Ensuring client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and training to lower-level and less experienced surveyors.
  • Contributes to the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge of the surveying team.
  • Monitors work and projects performed by subordinate surveyors, ensuring the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed.
  • Recommends new approaches to problems encountered and initiates changes in working methods and procedures as necessary.
  • Actively contributes to the development and enhancement of surveying practices.
  • Upholds the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's Degree in Naval Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working as a Surveyor.
  • Understanding of RINA strategic technical positioning in the sector of the marine industry or minimum 7 years' experience in the engineering or inspection/survey fields with an IACS member Classification Society.
  • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, related services, and, before assignment, with their future work.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy.
  • Ability to understand engineering plans and have a knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.
  • Ability to perform new building surveys, ship in service surveys, and other related tasks.
  • Knowledge of ship engineering systems and machinery.
  • Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.
