Business Intelligence Analyst Job Description

At LINKFIELDS INNOVATIONS (PTY) LTD, we are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team. As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing robust ETL processes to streamline data integration and support our advanced analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop ETL Processes: Utilize SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications for ETL development.
  • Optimize SQL Queries: Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support data integration and reporting needs.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot ETL Jobs: Monitor and troubleshoot ETL jobs to ensure the reliability and performance of data pipelines.
  • Conduct Data Validation: Conduct data validation and reconciliation to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data across different systems.
  • Document ETL Processes: Document ETL processes, data mappings, and data lineage to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Stay Updated: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in business intelligence and data integration.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in developing ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) in a business intelligence or data warehousing environment.
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL programming and database management with a solid understanding of relational database concepts.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with data modeling principles and dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and extract actionable insights.
  • Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across functional teams.
  • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with other business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView is a plus.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in SQL Server or business intelligence technologies are desirable.
