Job Overview

Lula, a cutting-edge FinTech company, is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team. As a critical member of our data engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance database systems on the Azure platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Azure SQL databases and other database services.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize query execution, indexing, and storage configurations to ensure optimal operation.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard data against unauthorized access and breaches.
  • Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Identify and resolve database-related issues and performance bottlenecks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with application developers, data analysts, and system architects to support data needs and promote best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime and impact on users.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Experience in Azure cloud environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and database scripting.
  • Relational DB experience, preferably MSSQL & Postgres.
  • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.

Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is between R800,000 - R1,200,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This figure includes a base salary and additional benefits such as health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
