Key Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastry Chef to join our culinary team at Bright Search Recruitment (Pty) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and creating a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods for hotel dining, events, and special occasions.
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of producing high-quality items that meet the highest standards of presentation and consistency.
  • We are looking for someone who can collaborate with our Executive Chef and culinary team to develop new dessert offerings and seasonal menus that exceed our clients' expectations.
  • As a Pastry Chef, you will also be responsible for managing inventory and ordering of pastry ingredients, ensuring proper storage and rotation to maintain efficiency in the kitchen.
  • Additionally, you will be expected to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment in line with health and safety standards.
  • You will also supervise junior pastry team members, providing training and guidance to ensure high standards are maintained throughout the team.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Pastry Chef in a fine dining or 5-star hotel environment is essential.
  • Formal culinary training or certification in pastry arts is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of pastry techniques, dessert presentation, and international pastry trends.
  • Excellent attention to detail and creativity in dessert design are must-haves.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities are necessary.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff, are essential.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required is also necessary.

Estimated Salary: R120,000 - R180,000 per annum
