The Chief Risk and Compliance Executive will spearhead the organization's risk management and compliance functions, ensuring seamless operation within Kenya's insurance sector regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies tailored to the insurance industry.
  2. IDentify, assess, and monitor risks across the organization, including financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
  3. Ensure continuous monitoring and analysis of risk trends, developing action plans to address identified risks.
  4. Oversee the creation and maintenance of a risk register, documenting, assessing, and prioritizing risks.
Compliance Oversight
  1. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including insurance-specific laws, data protection laws, and anti-money laundering regulations.
  2. Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
  3. Conduct regular compliance audits and reviews to identify potential areas of vulnerability, implementing corrective actions.
  4. Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring all necessary filings and reports are completed accurately and on time.
Leadership and Strategy
  1. Provide leadership and direction to the risk and compliance teams, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  2. Advise senior management and the board on risk and compliance issues, including the potential impact of regulatory changes.
  3. Foster a culture of risk awareness and compliance throughout the organization, providing training and support to staff.
  4. Lead the response to any regulatory or compliance investigations, protecting the organization's interests.
Policy Development
  1. Develop and maintain the company's risk and compliance policies, ensuring they are up-to-date with current regulations and industry best practices.
  2. Ensure risk management and compliance policies are communicated effectively across the organization, understood by all staff.
Crisis Management
  1. Develop and lead the implementation of crisis management plans, ensuring the organization can respond effectively to incidents impacting operations or reputation.
  2. Coordinate the response to significant risk events, ensuring timely and effective communication with stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. A Master's degree is preferred.
  3. Professional certifications in risk management or compliance (e.g., Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)).
  4. At least 10 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field within the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  5. In-depth knowledge of Kenya's regulatory environment, particularly in relation to insurance.
  6. Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  7. Proven ability to develop and implement risk management and compliance strategies.
  8. Experience in leading and managing teams.
