As a Transfusion Medicine Expert at UMass Memorial Health, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient preparation of blood products for transfusion. This involves following established protocols to perform tests and prepare component blood products, interpreting and correlating clinical test results with patient history and clinical condition, and performing low, moderate, and/or high complexity testing as required.

You will also be responsible for logging and receiving donor and patient specimens, processing specimens in a timely manner, and maintaining equipment during the shift. Additionally, you will instruct technicians and technologists in the set-up and operation of new equipment and procedures, and maintain complete and accurate records of processes performed.

Education requirements include a baccalaureate degree from a US regionally accredited college/university with courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics, AND successful completion of a US NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program with ASCP certification as an MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP).
