About the Role:

O'Brien Recruitment is seeking a skilled Pattern Maker to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating patterns, applying grading, making markers, and performing other system-related functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure and create patterns for garments
  • Check samples for construction and accuracy against technical specifications
  • Collaborate with the development team, production teams, and operators to ensure seamless production
  • Monitor fabric shrinkage and apply correct shrinkage to patterns
  • Perform costings, ratings, and grading for garments
  • Nest checking and marker grading for efficient production
  • Verify fabric widths and ensure accuracy of patterns
  • Identify and resolve pattern-related issues and quality problems in manufacturing
  • Complete administrative tasks and maintain departmental housekeeping standards
  • Support and follow ISO, Health and Safety, and Quality systems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in the FMCG industry, preferably in clothing and textile manufacturing
  • Experience with Bottoms, Skirts, Shirts, and Jackets is essential
  • Denim fabric knowledge is desirable
  • National Diploma in Pattern Making and Marker Making or equivalent qualification is advantageous
  • Experience with the Gerber system is beneficial
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a sound understanding of garment construction
  • Basic computer literacy
