About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Trainee Accountant to join our team at the Altum Group. As a key member of our accounting department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional financial services to our clients.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Statements: You will assist in preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly financial statements to our clients, meeting their deadlines.
  • Investor Relations: You will provide support with all aspects of investor relations, including the preparation, reconciliation, and proofing of investor reports, statutory financial statements, and ad hoc investor requests.
  • Audit Compliance: You will assist in completing routine audit queries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Bookkeeping: You will maintain accurate and up-to-date records on AllVue / NavOne and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules for all aspects of bookkeeping.
  • Tax Filing: You will assist in the preparation and reconciliation of periodic direct and indirect tax returns.
  • VAT Returns: For specific client entities, particularly those which own real estate assets, you will prepare and submit VAT returns and liaise with HMRC as necessary.
  • Task Management: You will effectively manage your tasks, complete daily work, and allocated project work as needed.

  • Technical Expertise: You will have excellent technical expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
  • Effective Communication: You will possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: You will have a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in your work.
  • Collaborative Approach: You will be a collaborative team player, willing to assist colleagues and contribute to the success of the team.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Academic Qualifications: You will hold a BCom degree or diploma in financial accounting, with a strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Training Commitment: You will have a commitment to learning and gathering technical financial services knowledge through training.
  • Professional Experience: Previous experience in capital markets, real estate, private debt funds, or private equity funds will be beneficial but not essential.
