About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Histotechnologist in the Histology and Imaging Core at New York Medical College.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of histology procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting of tissue samples.

This role requires strong technical skills, including proficiency in computer systems for data entry and result reporting.

A high level of organizational and time management skills will also be required, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma; an associate degree in histotechnology from a program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is optional.
  • Certifications: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification's Histotechnician License (preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient computer skills for data entry and result reporting.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience working in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
  • Other Skills: Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular diagnostics. Experience with using cryostat and preparing frozen sections. Effective communication skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
