Machinist Supervisor

Estimated salary: R 250,000 - R 350,000 per annum.

A successful Machinist Supervisor is required by Jean Fowlds Consultancy to manage the maintenance of Crusher plant equipment, people, and processes in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the steel industry and proven experience in a Supervisory or management role. They must be skilled in using manual tools and semi-automated tools, with a strong technical and mechanical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance Management: Schedule and execute maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and servicing of crushing plant equipment, conduct regular inspections to identify issues and faults in machinery, and promptly carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and comply with relevant regulations and company policies and procedures.
• Communication: Communicate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to procure spare parts and components as needed.
• Training and Development: Train and mentor Apprentices to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

• Trade qualifications in Fitting and Turning.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the steel industry.
• Proven experience in a Supervisory or management role.
• Experience working with conventional Lathe and turret Milling machines.
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

The ideal candidate will be willing to work in physically demanding conditions, occasionally in confined or elevated spaces, and be able to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements.
