Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to join our team at Pro Select Consulting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales and profitability through effective category management, forecasting sales and stock, and making commercial recommendations based on current trade.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Category Management: Drive sales and profitability through the management of sales, stock, OTB (On-Time-Budget), and margin.
  • Data Analysis: Collate and manipulate data for input into planning tools, and forecast sales and stock based on current trends, performance, and opportunities.
  • Stock Management: Ensure that category stock holdings are in line with budget/forecast and manage OTB accordingly.
  • Commercial Recommendations: Make recommendations based on current trade and propose actions to improve sales and profitability.
  • Assortment Planning: Plan and assist in product ranging to ensure optimal assortment levels.
  • Size Curve Analysis: Analyze size curves at store level and other key attributes to inform inventory decisions.
  • Seasonal Analysis: Conduct seasonal analysis and post-mortem with corresponding strategy and range planning.
  • Merchandise Planning: Develop and translate departmental pre-season merchandise strategies into executable in-season plans.
  • Sales Forecasting: Establish pre-season sales and margin plans, together with required inventory levels.
  • In-Season Adjustments: Re-project sales and markdowns considering impact on margin, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Inventory Allocation: Manage allocation teams to balance inventory and assortment across stores.
  • Financial Strategies: Provide financial strategies for sales, markdowns, inventory, and gross margin, and drive course corrections based on variances between actual results and plan.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with buyers and allocators to ensure effective range execution.
  • Style Performance: Liaise with buying departments regarding style performance.
  • Budget Control: Control budget and manage supply chain of different categories/departments.
  • Stock Management: Strategically manage stock and produce accurate figures for analysis.
  • Store Stock Levels: Maintain store stock levels for core merchandise.
  • Allocator Support: Oversee and work with allocators to correctly distribute stock to stores through allocations, consolidations, and stock movements.

Requirements:

This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in merchandise planning, preferably in the apparel industry. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Apparel Industry Experience: Previous experience working in the apparel industry is highly desirable.
  • Forecasting and Planning Skills: Strong skills in forecasting and planning, including data analysis and interpretation.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen, with a solid understanding of retail operations and merchandising principles.
