Job Description:
  • Maintain and repair mechanical equipment, including furnaces, CCMs, EOT Cranes, and Dust Extraction Systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs to prevent downtime.
  • Inspect and repair water pumps, cooling towers, and heat exchangers for faults such as leaks or abnormal sounds.
  • Perform maintenance on CCM equipment, including Mould Oscillation CAM, gearboxes, and PCRT/DRT servicing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure accurate record-keeping and data sheets for all equipment maintained.
  2. Collaborate with colleagues to address blockages in water hoses and panels to prevent high-temperature tripping.
  3. Fabricate formers for ladles, furnaces, and tundishes to precise specifications.
  4. Conduct welding and gas-cutting tasks as required.
  5. Maintain records of bearings, oil seal numbers, and grades of oils and greases.

Requirements:

  • National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting and Turning, or equivalent qualification.
  • Trade Test Certification (Qualified Artisan/Fitter) and Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of post-trade experience in maintaining mechanical equipment.
