Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant to join their team at the Kuruman store.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substances
  • Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances
  • Manufacturing of non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances
  • Re-packaging of medicine
  • Distribution and control of stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances
  • Ordering of medicine and scheduled substances
  • Reading and preparation of prescriptions
  • Accurate interpretation of scripts and professional conduct
  • Capture of script details and verification of patient details
  • Picking, packing, and labelling of medication
  • Instructions to patients regarding correct use of medicine
  • Follow-up with patients regarding script tracking and appointments
  • Explain medical aid costs to patients
  • Provide information to promote health
  • Process paperwork for accurate submission of claims
  • Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid
  • Maintenance of customer profiles
  • Reporting of low or out of stock levels and stock errors
  • Receiving and merchandising of dispensary stock
  • Exercise of stock, cash, and asset control
Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric qualification
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
  • Working experience on Unisolv
  • Computer literate
  • MS Office skills
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer service focus
  • Team player
  • Trustworthy and honest
  • Time management
  • Ability to deal with pressure
Special Conditions of Employment
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Controlled room temperature, security, limited space, health and safety, risk stock
  • Physically fit and able to stand for a long period
  • Valid drivers license
  • Clear credit and criminal records
