Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated software engineer with expertise in generative AI. In this role, you will work alongside a talented team to develop and sustain backend services that leverage generative AI for 2U/edX. Your commitment to software quality and craftsmanship will be essential as you help foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Team Context:

As part of the Service Experience portfolio, the Xpert Platform team is responsible for creating and maintaining AI services utilized across the organization. These services encompass data retrieval from extensive data sources, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tagging, summarization, and interactive chat functionalities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop maintainable and efficient code.
  • Conduct both exploratory and automated testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Lead the technical design of applications and contribute to broader system architecture discussions.
  • Offer technical mentorship and constructive feedback to peers.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Python programming.
  • Proficiency in NodeJS and ReactJS.
  • Experience in API development.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, OpenSearch, and DynamoDB.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software efficiently.
  • Previous experience in leading cross-functional development projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with serverless architecture.
  • Knowledge of additional AWS services including SNS/SQS, API Gateway, and DocumentDB.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools like Datadog.

Work Hours:

The standard working hours for this position are from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM SAST.
