Job Description

Kitchen workers play a vital role in preparing food that delights our guests. As a cook, your primary responsibility is to ensure every guest has an exceptional dining experience. This goal can be achieved by maintaining speed and efficiency in all kitchen tasks, consistency, and training development for smooth operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assume full responsibility for the quality of products served.
  • Familiarize yourself with Rotolo's standard portion sizes, cooking methods, prep methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure sufficient levels of food products are stocked at line stations for a seamless service period.
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work station areas, including tables, shelves, grills, ovens, prep tables, refrigeration equipment, walk-in cooler, sinks, floors, walls, etc.
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Properly handle, store, and rotate all products.
  • Be ready to assist fellow kitchen workers as situations arise.
  • Participate in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant.
  • Close kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen.
  • Open kitchen properly and follow the opening checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in opening the kitchen.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all fellow employees.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by supervisors.
  • Operate Point of Sale and telephone functionality to take orders from customers (as needed).
  • Adhere to safe food handling practices.
  • Comply with all rules and policies stated in the handbook.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
  • BASIC knowledge of kitchen procedures and functions.
  • Basic phone skills and understanding of the Point of Sale system to take phone orders from customers.
  • Able to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 5 hours).
  • Able to safely lift and easily maneuver up to 50lbs of product.
