We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Senior Workshop Foreman. As a member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing vehicle fleet maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and roadworthiness.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. A trade-tested Diesel Mechanic qualification with extensive experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repair.
  2. A valid Code EC driver's license with PrDP and a strong track record of leading teams in a workshop environment.
  3. 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a proven ability to manage and coordinate vehicle fleet maintenance activities.
  4. Proven expertise in engine removal, refitting, and re-commissioning of heavy commercial vehicles, as well as auto electrical knowledge.
  5. Relevant supervisory or foreman experience, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Coordinating and implementing vehicle fleet maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and roadworthiness.
  2. Managing vehicle fleet operations to ensure daily availability and maintaining accurate records.
  3. Leading and supervising a team to achieve high-performance standards and maintain a positive work environment.
  4. Conducting engine changes and ring services on buses, with a focus on quality and safety.
  5. Ensuring failure reports and vehicle transfer checklists are completed accurately and on time.
  6. Preparing and submitting management reports to stakeholders.

  1. An in-depth understanding of the bus passenger industry, including relevant regulations and standards.
  2. Familiarity with workshop procedures and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
  3. Knowledge of disciplinary policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety and ethics.

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  2. Effective time management and supervisory skills, with a focus on achieving high-performance standards.
  3. Fault-finding and problem-solving expertise, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
  4. Proficiency in basic computer literacy, with experience using software and systems relevant to the role.
  5. Report-writing capabilities, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
