Job Description

The Boilershop department at SA Metal Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Qualified Welder to join their team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general welding on structures, equipment, and machinery.
  • Repair existing components while working accurately and neatly.
  • Work in conjunction with the Boilermakers and be proficient in all forms of welding.
  • Ensure that workspaces are kept neat and tidy in the workshop and onsite.

Qualifying Criteria

  • Relevant trade test certificate in Welding.
  • Minimum 5-8 years' experience in a similar environment (Steel and/or Industrial environment).
  • Experience in pipe welding, Copper, Brazing, and Silver soldering, and Cast steel.
  • Proficiency in Mig, Tig, Gas, and SMAW.
  • Extensive knowledge of power tools.
  • Enjoys technical activities.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules.
  • Ability to work under challenging conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Qualifying Attributes

  • Hard-working and self-motivated.
  • Prepared to work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Available to work December and Easter Shutdowns.
  • Ability to handle materials and tools (physically fit).
  • Sober habits.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent standards in execution.
