This position is a key role within the HR Genie team, requiring a site-specific individual for the duration of the project.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Formal Education: A degree or national diploma in Civil Engineering.

Additionally, the candidate should have:

  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in construction monitoring of structural work, with specific experience in bridge structures.

The candidate should also be registered with:

  • Engineering Council of SA (ECSA): Candidate Engineer, Candidate Technologist, or Candidate Technician.
  • COTO (COLTO): Experience with this organization is highly desirable.

This role will enable the successful candidate to perform the following duties:

  • Monitoring of Construction Works: In accordance with Project Specifications, COTO, and FIDIC.
  • Auditing Site Safety Measures: Supervisory staff and Contractor.
  • Attend Site and Technical Meetings: Preparing minutes and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Maintenance of Daily Site Diary: Accurate and timely recording of site activities.
  • Monitor and Assess Survey Data: Ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor and Assess Test Results: Attending to quality control matters and ensuring compliance.
  • Measurement of Quantities: Verification of Contractors' monthly payment certificates.
  • Monitor, Assess, and Inspect Structural Works: Ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Preparing Budgets and Cashflows: Accurate forecasting and financial management.
  • Preparing Works Authorisations: Ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulations.
  • Programme and Expenditure Control: Effective management of project timelines and budgets.
  • Attend and Minute Work Schedule Meetings: With Contractor, ensuring accurate documentation and communication.
  • Preparing Site Instructions and Site Memorandums: Clear and concise communication with stakeholders.
  • Assist with Contract Report Preparation: Ensuring accurate and timely completion of project documentation.
  • Other Reasonable Requests: Willingness to adapt and contribute to the project's success.
