Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Engineer to join our team at WSP Africa. As a Fire Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert technical consulting services on fire safety, fire prevention, and life safety engineering issues for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement fire safety plans for evacuation, way finding, firefighting equipment, fire-rated construction, escape widths, and other critical aspects.
  • Design and implement fire detection, sprinkler systems, gas suppression, smoke control systems, and other fire protection systems.
  • Conduct site inspections and construction monitoring to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
  • Prepare tender documents and specifications for fire protection systems and adjudication reports.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure fire safety is integrated into building designs.
  • Provide expert advice on fire safety codes and regulations, including local and international standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
Requirements
  • Minimum BEng/BSc/BTech degree in Fire Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng).
  • 5-10 years of experience in Fire Engineering, preferably in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations, including local and international standards.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
