About the Role

TalentCru is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Estimator to join our team in the solar space. As a Cost Estimator, you will play a critical role in ensuring project success by providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Consultation and Site Visits: Consult with clients and visit project sites to gather data, ensuring a thorough understanding of project requirements.
  • Cost Analysis and Estimation: Analyze data to estimate project costs, including labor, materials, and production time, utilizing industry-standard software and techniques.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare cost analyses, tender documents, and bills of quantities, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with engineers, project managers, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Cost Factor Identification and Quantification: Identify and quantify all cost factors involved in a project, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project costs.
  • Report Generation and Presentation: Utilize cost estimating software to generate reports and present findings to stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Project Expenditure Review: Review project expenditures throughout all phases, ensuring adherence to budget and project scope.
  • Conceptual Estimates and Schedules: Develop and prepare conceptual estimates and detailed critical path job schedules, ensuring accurate project timelines.
  • Confidentiality and Discrepancy Resolution: Maintain confidentiality at all times and resolve cost discrepancies through analysis and data collection.
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Prepare and present budgets, reports, and project plans, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Bid Development and Evaluation: Develop bids for construction projects and evaluate bids and purchase offers, ensuring optimal project outcomes.
  • Industry Standards and Compliance: Understand and adhere to industry standards and codes, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Administrative and Site Support: Process paperwork and visit construction sites as needed, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Construction Process Monitoring: Monitor construction processes, ensuring adherence to project scope and budget.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with safety codes and construction best practices, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., construction management, engineering, quantity surveying) or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably within the solar or electrical projects sector.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent mathematical skills with an eye for detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project), experience with construction costing software (e.g., Candy), and demonstrated experience with construction contracts.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer-focused with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
