Job Purpose

SLR seeks an experienced Consultant (Associate Hydrogeologist) to join our Land and Water Service Line.

The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering groundwater services for clients in the mining, energy, industry, power, and infrastructure sectors across SADC and Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to business development activities, establishing new client relationships and maintaining existing ones.
  • Collect and process hydrogeological data, technical data, spatial information, and historical documents for specialist input and advisory projects.
  • Conduct groundwater development projects, including geophysical/physical borehole siting, drilling/test pumping supervision, and procurement management.
  • Write technical reports and present findings to clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Develop conceptual models based on client requirements, environmental, geological, and hydrogeological factors.
  • Provide specialist input into groundwater and surface numerical modeling and technical report writing.
  • Participate in Environmental Social Impact Assessment processes and associated technical report writing.
  • Manage projects, liaise with project managers, clients, and authorities, and deliver quality work on time and in budget.
  • Perform geological, hydro(geo)logical, and geotechnical field work as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Hydrogeology, Geology, or Earth Science.
  • 10-15 years' experience in hydrogeology, with at least 5 years managing multi-disciplinary projects in the specified sectors.
  • Proficiency in geophysical methods for groundwater development.
  • Proficiency in water and environmental acts and regulations in the specified sectors.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and GIS packages (ArcGis, MapInfo, QGIS).
  • Valid driver's license.
