Accountant Job Description

Pillango Placements is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Operations: Utilize Pastel Partner for all accounting functions, perform various tasks, and maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Reporting: Conduct month-end closing procedures, prepare and distribute management accounts, and perform consolidation following company restructuring.
  • Governance & Statutory Compliance: Maintain a list of contracts, record, reconcile, and maintain VAT, and calculate and submit SARS income tax returns.
  • Trading Platform: Develop a deep understanding of the trading platform's financial implications and support the Trade Clearing team with payment and journal processing duties.
  • Payroll Management: Administer and manage payroll using Sage Payroll system, account for salary disbursements, and oversee SARS/PAYE/UIF/SDL administration.
  • Human Resources Administration: Manage HR documentation, administer leave, and process ad hoc payments, bonuses, and salary adjustments.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Provide training, implement system and process improvements, and maintain filing and administrative systems.
  • Leadership: Conduct performance reviews for subordinates, review work performed by delegated employees, and provide job-related training to enhance subordinate skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with honors.
  • Completion of accounting articles.
  • Experience with financial, payroll, and ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Reporting Line: This role reports directly to the Finance Executive.
