Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the provision of nursing care to patients, evaluating nursing practice, and providing clinical learning activities for staff. This includes:

  • Utilizing the Nursing Process to evaluate and assess the nursing needs of patients and manage patient flow in the HOPE Center.
  • Managing and administering the provision of nursing care to patients to ensure adherence to standards of unit and department, as well as local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Overseeing the overall operation of the HOPE Center's medical and nursing program, including ongoing communication with clients, staff, and other departments to ensure the highest level of client/patient care.
  • Performing management activities, including interviewing, hiring, evaluation, and termination of nursing staff (RN and Medical Assistant level) and assigned grant-funded programs.
  • Directing and supervising staff, addressing program challenges in a proactive and solution-oriented manner.
  • Providing clinical learning activities for all staff.
  • Covering nursing duties, including phlebotomy, to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
  • Ensuring fiscal viability of the HOPE Center by implementing program changes to ensure services continue to be billable and paid by managed care, insurances, and grantors.
  • Supervising the Hepatitis C grant-funded program and other programs, as assigned, to ensure all grant deliverables are met and high-quality patient care is provided.
  • Evaluating and improving overall nursing practice at the HOPE Center through participation in Department's Quality Improvement and Patient-Centered Medical Home efforts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • New York State Licensed Registered Nurse (required).
  • Demonstrated competence in medical outpatient primary care settings (2-3 years clinical experience) with in-depth current knowledge in areas of clinical practice.
  • Ability to problem-solve, communicate effectively, and organize resources appropriately.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Well-developed and effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Confidence in actions and the exercise of good judgment.
  • Leadership ability and the willingness to assume authority and accountability for the direction and supervision of others.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for quality care.
  • Adaptability to change.
  • Ability to recognize problems, approach them in an objective manner, reach appropriate solutions, implement them, and evaluate for effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Working knowledge of HIV-specific performance indicators.
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.
  • Experience treating individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
