About the Job:

The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions, preparing financial packs, and managing statutory and tax obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and validate all financial transactions in the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee and review bank reconciliations prepared by bookkeepers to ensure their accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial packs, including balance sheet reconciliations, to stakeholders.
  • Manage statutory and tax obligations, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in tax submissions and oversee tax compliance to minimize risks and ensure adherence to laws and regulations.
  • Support internal audits and year-end financial statement preparation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in finance improvement projects, including system implementations and process efficiencies, to enhance financial performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align financial strategies with business objectives and drive growth.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelors degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting or related field (CA(SA), CIMA, or SAIPA in progress is advantageous).
  • Experience: 2-3 years in a Financial Accountant role or completion of articles.
  • Knowledge of multi-national group structures across Africa/UK is beneficial.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and financial reporting is essential.
  • Strong understanding of VAT, corporate tax returns, and regulatory requirements is necessary.
  • Exposure to financial services or regulated industries is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial data analysis is required.
