Excavation Specialist

Job Overview
The Legends Agency is seeking an experienced Excavation Specialist to join our team. This role involves safe and efficient blasting and extraction of minerals in a trackless mine.

About the Role
This position requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and problem-solving capabilities. You will work closely with the mining team, engineers, and supervisors to ensure the safe execution of daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

* Blasting Operations:

• Conduct thorough pre-blasting inspections, verifying the condition of the blast area.
• Prepare and charge blast holes according to the mine's design specifications and safety procedures.
• Initiate blasts as scheduled, minimizing disruption to the environment and surrounding operations.

* Trackless Mining Operations:

• Operate and maintain trackless mobile machinery (e.g. loaders, dump trucks) for mining operations.
• Perform routine safety checks on equipment and report any issues or malfunctions.

* Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to safety regulations set out by the Mine Health and Safety Act, including proper handling of explosives and equipment.
• Follow protocols for collision avoidance systems on trackless machines to minimize accidents involving machinery and personnel.

Requirements:

* Blasting Ticket: Valid Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines in South Africa.
* Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trackless underground mining.
* Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of operating trackless mobile machinery in underground environments.
• Proficient in blast hole preparation, explosive handling, and initiation.
* Safety Compliance:

• Thorough understanding of mine safety protocols, especially regarding collision avoidance and proximity detection systems.
* Additional Skills:

• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in high-pressure environments and meet production deadlines.

Compensation: The estimated salary for this position is around R350,000 - R450,000 per annum, depending on experience.
