About Us
Process Engineering, Stellenbosch University is a leading institution in the field of chemical engineering, offering opportunities for postgraduate research in sustainable technologies.
This project focuses on developing sustainable biochar technologies for carbon sequestration and mitigating CO2 emissions associated with industrial high-temperature processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Bioresource Engineering group, which has extensive expertise in biomass processing, process simulations, and carbon emissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate various technical process options for biochar production and its integration into industrial processes
- Use process simulations, financial modeling, and greenhouse gas emissions assessment to identify the most viable approach
- Work closely with the Bioresource Engineering group to develop sustainable biochar technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited tertiary institution
- Good academic record (preferably with a course aggregate of >65%)
- Previous experience in process simulations is a definite advantage but not required
