Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Developer to join our team at EDF Renewables. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing land rights, authorizations, permits, and licenses required to build and operate wind, solar PV, and/or BESS projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and originate new renewable energy projects, including desktop analysis, site visits, and land lease agreements.
  • Manage commercial negotiations for agreements such as land lease agreements, servitudes, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory approvals.
  • Apply and secure necessary permits, licenses, and authorizations for renewable energy projects.
  • Manage internal costs and external consultant costs in accordance with development budgets.
  • Coordinate due diligences for multiple projects, determine permitting requirements, and establish development plans and timelines.
  • Support the Company's participation in the Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Program and RFPs for private off-takers.
  • Foster working relationships with external consultants, regulatory authorities, landowners, and joint venture partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (B Tech, BSC science/engineering, B Com).
  • At least 8 years of work experience as a renewable energy Project Developer in South Africa.
  • Strong project management, negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of rural South African context, SA administrations, and environmental law.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
