Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electronics Technician to join our team at the Gqeberha Manufacturing site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining electronic process control systems hardware and software and ensuring that new process control systems are installed according to company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance of electronic process control systems hardware and software.
  2. Installation of new process control systems according to company standards.
  3. Field hardware loop checks / calibration, etc.
  4. Process control philosophy review and optimisation recommendations.
  5. Regular audit of process control programmes and implementation of changes according to ISO procedure.
  6. Documentation of work: installation drawings, P&IDs, Loop identification, Field and termination tagging, etc.
  7. Optimisation of individual machine output to improve overall line performance.
  8. Implementation of proper access control to electronic systems.
  9. Fault finding and maintenance of electronic equipment.
  10. Backup of electronic systems on the designated server location.
  11. Participation in Minibuses Operating System activities.
  12. Administrative functions as required.
  13. Training and coaching of Production controllers, Artisans, Machine controller and operators.
  14. Assistance to Artisans and Production controllers with their tasks.
  15. Achievement of production requirements against target.
  16. Optimisation of asset usage.
  17. PLC programming.
  18. Achievement of service quality according to Quality Management system ratings and workplace improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • N4-N5 equivalent Electrical / Electronic qualification (NQF 5).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or 2 years' experience in Siemens software programming.
  • Experience with various PLCs including Siemens S5 and S7.
  • Ability to assist Production Controllers with problem-solving on production machines and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience of effective housekeeping principles and health and safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership capabilities and ability to function in a team environment.
