About the Role

The Altum Group is seeking a talented Trainee Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional financial services to our clients.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Reporting: You will assist in preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly financial reports to our clients, meeting their deadlines.
  • Accounting Support: You will provide comprehensive support with all aspects of accounting matters, including the preparation, reconciliation, and proofing of investor reports, statutory financial statements, and ad hoc investor requests.
  • Audit Compliance: You will assist in completing routine audit queries, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Record Keeping: You will maintain accurate and up-to-date records on AllVue / NavOne and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules for all aspects of bookkeeping.
  • Tax Preparation: You will assist in the preparation and reconciliation of periodic direct and indirect tax returns.
  • VAT and CIS Returns: For specific client entities, particularly those which own real estate assets, you will prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns and liaise with HMRC as necessary.
  • Task Management: You will effectively manage your tasks, complete daily work, and allocated project work as needed.

  • Technical Skills: You will have excellent technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
  • Communication Skills: You will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: You will have a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in your work.
  • Collaboration: You will be a collaborative team player, willing to assist colleagues and contribute to the success of the team.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • FCA Qualification: You will hold a BCom degree or diploma in financial accounting, with a strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Training Requirements: You will have a desire to learn and gather technical financial services knowledge through training.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in capital markets, real estate, private debt funds, or private equity funds will be beneficial but not essential.
